MAKING HALLOWEEN COSTUME WASTE LESS SPOOKY

By: Michaela Ryan

Halloween is over - and now we’re left asking - “What do we do with our old costumes?” In short, KEEP IT! Not only can you reuse or repurpose your costumes next year, but keeping your old costumes allows you to participate in costume exchanges. These costume exchanges can be organized within your friend group, student organizations, clubs, or with work friends. In addition, every year from around mid-September until the week before Halloween, many large-scale costume drop-offs and exchanges occur throughout the country. This past year - the Ann Arbor District Library held a local costume swap! You can find your nearest costume exchange next year using Facebook Groups around the Halloween season.

So — skip the Amazon hauls and your trips to Spirit Halloween next year by keeping your old costumes to not only save money, but also to save the planet!
